Ammo Jetty

Introduction

Ammo Jetty, located just 40 minutes from the central business district of Perth, is a popular shore diving location that boasts ease of navigation, making it an ideal spot for novice divers. The jetty can be easily traversed by following the pylons on one side and coming back down the other side, with the majority of divers opting for a clockwise direction upon entering from the south or left side.

The visibility at Ammo Jetty typically ranges between 3-4 meters, but can drop to as low as 1-2 meters, making it essential for divers to exercise caution. The maximum depth of the dive site is approximately 9 meters, with the jetty stretching approximately 100 meters in length.

Accessing Ammo Jetty isn't as convenient as other dive sites as it is a very popular beach and can be a little tricky to find parking during summer if you don't get there early enough. The 3-ish minute walk fully kitted up can take it out of you before your dive as well, so take your time and pace yourself.

Due to a recent increase in fishing off of the jetty, it is important to exercise caution and always carry line-cutting tools apart of your kit.

In conclusion, Ammo Jetty is a great location for novice divers due to its ease of navigation. However, divers should remain mindful of the visibility conditions and exercise caution during their dive.
